lynne had a shoulder problem:
|
"...After a visit to my GP for an arm injury due to overuse which resulted in a frozen shoulder, I came away with painkillers and the promise of an appointment with a specialist. In so much pain I could not sleep, dress myself let alone cook a decent meal, the painkillers just added to the problem by making me sick. I was in such a sorry state and little did I know at the time that the appointment would take a couple of months to come through. I saw one of Ian's cards advertised and gave him a ring. I can honestly say from that phone call onward I felt supported and taken care of, just his kind voice with advice and reassurance, with no false promises was enough to give me hope. I did wonder what the whole experience would be like such as you do!
"I had questions like 'where do you get undressed?', 'how much do I have to take off?' And in fact I dragged hubbie along the first time. No problem, we were met in a friendly, comfortable atmosphere where Ian with his gentle humour put us at ease, not I am sure an easy job as I was so stressed out with the pain, but he made it seem easy. And yes some clothes did have to be taken off but I have always been left in dignity to sort myself out and plenty of towels for covering up! Feeling safe and able to just hand the whole problem over the healing began immediately. Ian worked gently on my body and at the same time managed to chat to me about how I managed to get into such a mess.
"I was given advice on how to dress myself with less damage done to my shoulder. How to breathe through the pain (and I came off the painkillers immediately). How to take better care of myself generally. The whole nightmare turned into a life changing experience. I am now back leading a normal life doing gentle gardening, decorating, carrying small loads and getting stronger all the time." |
paul had shoulder, back and feet problems :
|
"...Of the many practitioners I have seen over the years I have to say that Ian stands head and shoulders above them all. In terms of diagnosing and treating pain he is the best and most effective for me. He is also a man of great spirit. He is extremely professional and has always supplied a safe and discreet surrounding for his clients with easy access and fair pricing. It is only sad for me that he has left Bristol and I now don't really have access to him." |
dave had neck pains:
|
"...As a very active walking and cycling guide my regular 'MOT's' with Ian keep me in tip-top condition. He always got straight to the problem area and worked around it with a great feel for the underlying musculature and all that it is connected to. Huge thanks." |
| alex struggled with acute anxiety: |
"...I initially visited Ian in 1998 after a viral infection left me weakened physically and mentally. Suffering acute anxiety I was keen to find help to just relax and understand why my body seemed locked in a permanent panic mode. Under Ian’s direction I learnt how to calm myself using relaxation techniques and allow my body time to recover. This wasn’t easy for me because new places and people only added to the anxiety. Ian’s gentle empathetic manner and calm assurance that he understood my condition and that it could be fixed brought about a renewed confidence that enabled me to get back on top of life. As the years have passed I have relied on Ian to keep my body and soul in trim. His osteopathic and massage skills have manipulated my ankles, knees, fingers and back preventing the acute from becoming chronic. He has always been amicable, accessible, respectful and confidential. Bristol’s loss is Southampton’s gain. |
| stephenie had neck and pelvic pain: |
"...I searched for a new osteopath in Southampton as my last one only treated one problem at a time. I had a problem that needed the whole body to be assessed! My problem can't really be solved permanently (something I was born with) so I see Ian for maintenance. I arrive with pelvis pain, splitting headache and tense muscles all over. Ian's treatment tends to involve first checking out what is going on and then treating with a mixture of manipulation and massage. At first he also looked at cranial osteopathic techniques with me but I don't seem to need this any more. He tried to get me into Alexander Technique which was interesting but with young kids I just haven't had time to get into it yet. He respected that and just keeps me going when I need him! His manner is kind, extremely respectful and I feel absolutely at ease with his professional attitude. The thing I like best
about Ian though is that he has an amazing memory for people's bodies and their difficulties and this is so important in getting the treatment right." |
